Jason D Koontz, CRC - An Expert Witness in His Own Words
After graduating from Marshall University in 1991, I started my banking career with United National Bank in Charleston, WV. During that time, I was trained and developed broad areas of expertise including in loan collections, credit analysis, cash management, and commercial lending. Next, in 1997, I spent a year with Bank One Leasing Corporation. My responsibilities included assisting clients with leasing solutions in West Virginia and Ohio.
Beginning in 1998 I spent fourteen years with Summit Community Bank in Charleston, WV. During my tenure at Summit, I was promoted to Senior Vice President. While at Summit I worked with both retail and commercial clients providing deposit accounts, cash management services, and loans - eventually serving on the Loan Committee.
I have been involved in every step of the loan process which included underwriting and loan closing. If necessary, it also included the collections process. I have attended numerous banking seminars over the years and obtained the Credit Risk Certification (CRC) from the Risk Management Association.
Over the course of twenty plus years in banking I have made hundreds of loans, opened deposit accounts and provided cash management services to individuals, businesses, and governmental entities.
In addition to my banking experience, I am also a Certified Residential Appraiser (WV License CR1162). I provide residential appraisal services for individuals, entities, banks, and credit unions. I also provide appraisal expert services. This includes residential appraisals (current and retrospective), as well as appraisal review. The banking and appraisal experience are a great combination that can provide clients with even more insight into a matter.
I currently serve as a consultant, independent expert witness, and appraiser. I have been retained in over 150 expert witness matters. My expert witness testimony has been nationwide, and I am experienced testifying as an expert at both deposition and trial. My witness testimony has been used in both federal and state cases.
I recently served as Chairman of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) for the Charleston, WV chapter. Other the years other volunteer work included the Habitat for Humanity, the South Charleston Rotary, and The United Way of Central West Virginia.
