Jason D Koontz, CRC - An Expert Witness in His Own Words
My career encompasses two nominally related areas: banking and residential real estate.
I currently serve as a consultant, expert witness and appraiser. I have been retained in more than 250 expert witness matters.
I have given expert witness testimony nationwide, and I am experienced testifying as an expert at both deposition and trial. My witness testimony has been in both federal and state cases.
Over the course of twenty-plus years in banking, I have made hundreds, if not thousands, of loans, opened deposit accounts and provided cash management services to individuals, businesses, and governmental entities.
I have been involved in every step of the loan process, which includes the application, underwriting and loan closing. If necessary, collections. I have attended numerous banking seminars and obtained the Credit Risk Certification (CRC) from the Risk Management Association.
In addition to my banking experience, I am also a Certified Residential Appraiser licensed in North Carolina (NC License A9373) , South Carolina (SC License 8618), and West Virginia (WV License CR1162). I provide residential appraisal services for individuals, entities, banks, and credit unions. I also provide appraisal expert services for residential appraisals (current and retrospective), as well as appraisal review.
Together, the banking and appraisal experience are a great combination that can provide clients with even more insight into a matter.
After graduating from Marshall University in 1991, I started my banking career at United National Bank in Charleston, WV. I was trained and developed broad areas of expertise including loan collections, credit analysis, cash management and commercial lending. Next, I spent a year with Bank One Leasing Corporation, where I assisted clients with leasing solutions in West Virginia and Ohio.
Beginning in 1998, I spent fourteen years with Summit Community Bank in Charleston, WV, where I worked with both retail and commercial clients. I provided deposit accounts, cash management services, and loans - eventually serving on the Loan Committee and being promoted to Senior Vice President.
As for community service, I was Chairman of SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) for the Charleston, WV chapter. Other volunteer work includes Habitat for Humanity, the South Charleston Rotary and The United Way of Central West Virginia.
